What is the explanation of "Ibn Taymiyyah's Lāmiyyah," especially his saying: "Love of the Companions," and "And by the affection of kin I seek intercession," and his saying: "And all verses on Attributes I pass them on Truly as the first generation transmitted, and I refer their responsibility to their transmitters And I protect them from all that is imagined"?

Supplicating through love for the Prophet's relatives (peace be upon him) is a permissible form of Tawassul (seeking proximity to Allah), as it is a form of Tawassul to Allah through a good deed. As for the meaning of his statement in his Lamiyah poem, "And all verses of attributes, I pass them on truly as the foremost generation conveyed, and I entrust their responsibility to their narrators, and I preserve them from all that can be imagined"; it means believing in the verses of attributes according to their apparent meaning, just as the pious predecessors believed in them, and safeguarding them from the interpretations of innovators. Among the best commentaries on this Lamiyah is "Al-La'ali al-Bahiyah Sharh Lamiyat Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah" by Ahmad al-Mardawi.
