Is it permissible for a woman to travel to complete her internship, which is necessary for her profession, accompanied by her maternal aunts as mahrams, given the unavailability of a father or husband as a mahram? And is a father’s deprivation of his son from completing his university education due to a past mistake the son committed during adolescence considered an injustice?

The majority of scholars hold that a woman's travel without a mahram (definition) is not permissible except in cases of necessity. Some scholars, however, permit travel when there is no fear of fitna (temptation/strife). It is advised that the father accompany his daughter on her journey or permit her brother to do so. If he does not agree and no mahram is available, there is no objection to adopting the opinion of those who permit a woman to travel if she is accompanied by trustworthy companions.

Regarding preventing a brother from university studies due to a past mistake, the father does not have the right to do so, nor is the father obligated to financially support his child's university education. However, if the father is able and the child has no money, the father should not be stingy with him. If the child repents, repentance erases what came before it. Even if he does not repent, preventing him from studying is not a means of reforming him, especially if it leads to idleness. A father favoring one child over another in educational expenses can lead to corruption among siblings and undutifulness.
