What is your advice to a young man about to get married, who fears that his first night will anger his Lord due to the prevalence of songs and dancing at weddings in Sudan? Is it permissible to bring songs, drums, and romantic poetry to this occasion, with the fear that dancing may occur? And what should he do if his fiancée listens to songs and he dislikes that?

To establish a marriage according to Islamic law, one must be steadfast in obedience to Allah, choose a righteous wife, combine firmness with gentleness, associate with the virtuous, and be patient in the face of harm. As for singing at weddings, it is permissible with the duff (tambourine) only, while being careful to avoid mixing of genders and violating Islamic law. Reciting romantic poetry is permissible with certain restrictions, and the ruling on dancing has been explained in previous fatwas.
