What is the ruling on congregational prayer in a Dar Al-Qur’an (Qur’an House), abandoning the mosque under the pretext that the imams of the mosques do not meet the conditions of imamate, such as shaving the beard and committing non-disqualifying innovations?

Congregational prayer in the mosque is obligatory. If it is possible to pray behind an imam who is not openly sinful, then do so. If that is not possible due to the presence of an openly sinful imam, or the inability to change him, then it is obligatory to pray behind him in order to preserve congregational prayer in the mosque and to prevent mosques from being rendered idle from their function. It suffices that "the best of places are the mosques," and that frequenting them erases sins and raises ranks, just as Allah will shade those whose hearts are attached to mosques on the Day of Resurrection, under His shade. Therefore, cooperation in righteousness and piety and the preservation of congregational prayer are necessary, just as the Companions did, who prayed behind Al-Hajjaj and Mukhtar ibn Abi Ubayd, despite their open sinfulness and injustice.
