What is the ruling regarding a wife remaining without sexual intercourse for years due to her husband's incapacitation, and what is your advice to this wife?
We advise the sister to understand her husband's condition, as what he is suffering from is often a psychological illness caused by sexual inhibition towards his wife due to aversion, shyness, or fear. Sorcery might also be a cause. Therefore, she should re-evaluate herself and her situation, and strive to treat him with legitimate ruqyah (Islamic incantations). We recommend her to be patient, seeking reward from Allah and preserving her home and child; for the consequence of patience is relief, as Allah Almighty says: "For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease." However, if the continuation and stability of her marital life become impossible, there is no blame upon her if she seeks a divorce, as Allah Almighty says: "But if they separate [by divorce], Allah will enrich each [of them] from His abundance."
