Upon whom is Zakat al-Fitr obligatory: Is it upon the brother, the father, or the questioner?
Zakat al-Fitr is obligatory upon whoever possesses more than the food for the day and night of Eid, otherwise it is obligatory upon his provider. Its measure is one Sa' of dates or barley, approximately two and a half kilograms. It is given on behalf of every Muslim (male or female, young or old, free or enslaved), and its disbursement should be before the Eid prayer.
