Is it permissible for a pregnant woman to make up for days of Ramadan in advance during the months of Rajab and Sha'ban? And do Tasbeeh and Du'a suffice to compensate for the reward of fasting, praying (qiyam), and reciting the Qur'an during Ramadan for a pregnant woman who will break her fast due to childbirth? And is the mother's supplication answered with every contraction of labor, or only upon the expulsion of the fetus? And is there any religious evidence for this?

It is not valid to make up for fasting except after it becomes obligatory, which is after Ramadan. Therefore, a woman should not fast now. Rather, if she broke her fast in Ramadan due to postpartum bleeding (nifas) or illness, she must make up the days she missed, for Allah says: "So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days." Missing the fast due to childbirth is something Allah has ordained for women, and she must submit to it. A woman's desire to fast in Ramadan and perform prayers despite the impediment earns her reward for that intention. Dhikr (remembrance of Allah) carries great reward, but it does not substitute for making up the fast. There is no harm for a woman in postpartum bleeding or menstruation to recite the Quran, as long as she does not touch the Mus'haf (physical copy of the Quran).
