Does divorce occur by saying, "You are divorced if you scream or utter another word to the girl," if the wife disobeys and utters a few words to her, and is it considered one divorce or three?
A husband should take his time when it comes to divorce. It is not wise to divorce a wife simply because she shouted at her daughter. Scholars call this "conditional divorce." The correct ruling regarding it is that if the husband intended the divorce to occur, it takes effect as soon as the wife violates the condition, and it counts as one divorce. The husband must take her back if it was the first or second divorce. However, if the husband intended to prevent her from shouting and did not intend divorce, then this falls under the ruling of an oath, and he must offer expiation for breaking an oath; in this case, no divorce occurs.
