Divorce takes effect if a person utters the words while being aware of what he is saying, even in a state of extreme anger, unless he has completely lost awareness. If the pronouncement of divorce is not the third and final one, reconciliation is permissible. Only one divorce takes effect by utterance unless more than that is intended. If the husband repeats the word of divorce intending to emphasize it, that is accepted from him. But if he intends to pronounce divorces and repeats the pronouncements, three divorces take effect. If he does not intend anything, only one divorce takes effect.
