Is a husband permitted to refuse to swear an oath upon the Qur’an to his wife that he will not betray her, under the pretext that "it is not permissible to toy with the Qur'an"?

Some people swear an oath on the Qur’an for the purpose of emphasizing and increasing certainty. Some scholars have permitted it if the one being sworn in does not deter except by it. However, many scholars believe that it is not required by Islamic law; rather, it is contrary to the Sunnah. It is preferable not to make the husband swear an oath on the Qur’an and to suffice with a mere oath, because adding the Qur’an to the oath is a practice not established by the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, nor by his successors.
