What is the ruling on a wife sitting with her husband who drinks alcohol, and what is the evidence for that?

It is not permissible for a wife to sit with her husband while he is drinking alcohol, because Allah, the Almighty, says: "And He has already revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being denied and ridiculed, then do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, you would then be like them. Indeed, Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers in Hell all together." And according to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not sit at a table where wine is being circulated." Remaining silent in the face of an abomination is considered an approval of it, and Allah has made it obligatory to enjoin good and forbid evil. As for sitting with him in his normal states, it is permissible, and obedience to him is obligatory as long as he is not engaged in disobedience.
