Is working in the field of translating user manuals for DVD players and VCRs considered unlawful (haram) from a Sharia perspective, given that their primary use is often for watching indecent films and the like?

Translating user manuals for devices and their manufacturing is permissible, and manufacturing them is not forbidden unless it is known or highly probable that they will be used in forbidden ways. However, if it is highly probable that the recipient of the translation will use the device in a forbidden way, then translation is not permissible, as it falls under aiding in sin. Allah Almighty has prohibited this, saying: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression."
