What is the legitimate Islamic way for a suitor and his fiancée to increase their mutual acquaintance online, in a manner that pleases Allah and incurs no sin, given the long distance and the difficulty of frequent meetings?

The suitor is a stranger to his fiancée. Therefore, it is not permissible for him to look at her, nor to be alone with her, nor to speak with her privately, except after the marriage contract. Rather, the Lawgiver has permitted him to look at her once or twice when necessary, when intending to propose, so that it may be an incentive for him to propose to her. It is obligatory to cut off communication between the suitor and the fiancée after mutual inclination has occurred, except for a necessity, while observing the Sharia guidelines. It is preferable to expedite the marriage contract after the engagement, as a long period of separation between them for the purpose of getting to know each other is not from the guidance of the Prophet, peace be upon him, nor his companions. Indeed, the companions used to hasten to marriage after seeing each other, as is evident from the Hadith of Jabir ibn Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him.
