Is it permissible for a father to prevent his son from committing reprehensible acts, such as Qaza' (shaving parts of the head and leaving others) or wearing shorts that reveal the knee, and are these reprehensible acts considered forbidden?

A righteous father who has memorized the Quran is a great blessing, and his natural inclination is to care for his son's well-being. Obedience to parents is obligatory, even regarding a disliked action, so it is even more so concerning its ترك (omission). The knee is not considered part of the 'awrah (private parts that must be covered), but it is obligatory to obey the father in not wearing shorts if it serves the father's interest and causes no harm to the son, for gaining the father's pleasure is part of gaining the Lord's pleasure. "Al-Qaza'" (shaving parts of the head and leaving others) may be forbidden if it is intended to imitate disbelievers. Wearing shorts might expose the 'awrah when sitting. Seize the opportunity of growing up in obedience to Allah.
