The answer

The texts of revelation from the Qur'an and Hadith must be respected and revered, even if translated. Some scholars have gone so far as to say that letters in general have sanctity. Al-Dusuqi said: Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Laqqani said: "The sanctity of letters applies when they are written in Arabic; otherwise, they have no sanctity, unless what is written with them is one of the names of Allah." Ali Al-Ujhuri said: "Letters have sanctity whether written in Arabic or otherwise, which is what Al-Hattab and Al-Nasir's fatwa indicate." Our Sheikh said: "And this is the relied-upon opinion." Additionally, wearing the garment, sweating in it, and lying down with it in places that might be impure or dirty contradicts the reverence for what is written on it.
