What is the ruling on traveling by modern means of transport in the past?!

Traveling by modern means such as cars, airplanes, and trains is permissible, because the basic principle regarding things and means is permissibility. Allah the Almighty has bestowed upon us, as a favor, ancient means of transport like camels, horses, and mules. He says: "And the grazing livestock He has created for you; in them is warmth and [other] benefits, and from them you eat. And for you in them is [the enjoyment of] beauty when you bring them in [to rest] and when you send them out [to graze]. And [He created] horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride upon and [as] adornment." Then He said: "And He creates that which you do not know." This includes modern means. These means do not change any of the rulings regarding shortening prayers or the permissibility of breaking the fast during travel, for the absence of hardship in travel does not alter its rulings.
