When does the time for the prohibition of selling, mentioned in His – Exalted be He – saying: "O you who have believed, when [the adhan for] prayer is called on Friday, then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade," begin?

Firstly: Allah Almighty forbade trading at the time of the call to prayer on Friday, in His saying: (O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Friday, then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade).

Secondly: Scholars differed on when trading becomes forbidden: 1. The Hanafi school of thought: It becomes forbidden at the time of the first adhan. 2. The majority of scholars: It becomes forbidden at the time of the second adhan (which occurs after the Imam sits on the minbar). This is the more preponderant opinion because the adhan that existed during the time of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and Abu Bakr and Umar, was this particular adhan. Also, because trading at that time distracts from the prayer. Uthman added the first adhan due to the large number of people.
