What is the ruling on holding musical concerts and evening gatherings that include songs and chants, as well as TV series and plays, and what is the ruling on attending, watching, and participating in them?

Everyone must fear Allah and be mindful of Him. Indeed, organizing musical parties where singers and actors are invited, attending them, participating in them, or supporting them is haram (forbidden). This is substantiated by Allah's saying: "And among the people is he who buys lahw al-hadith (idle talk) to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledge and who takes it in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment," and by Ibn Mas'ud's statement that what is meant by lahw al-hadith is singing. This is also substantiated by the hadith: "There will be people from my Ummah who will consider lawful al-hir [illicit sexual intercourse], silk, intoxicants, and musical instruments," and by Anas's hadith: "There will be in this Ummah sinking of the earth, pelting with stones, and transformation [into animals], and that will be when they drink intoxicants, take to female singers, and strike musical instruments." Scholars have explicitly stated the prohibition of musical instruments. Therefore, organizing these parties is forbidden, and those who organize them and the guardians must fear Allah. Entertainment should be in obedience to Allah or through permissible matters, while observing Islamic manners.
