Supplicating for the oppressed is legislated as a means for their deliverance from oppressors. It has been authenticated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) supplicated for the downtrodden and against those who killed his companions. When fearing a people, he used to say, "O Allah, we place You against their throats and we seek refuge in You from their evils." Surat Ya-Sin, like other surahs of the Quran, is recited to seek assistance in fulfilling needs, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying, "Whoever recites the Quran, let him ask Allah by it." There is no specific surah designated for such a purpose, and what has been narrated regarding the فضيلة (virtue) of Surat Ya-Sin contains scholarly discussion, and its attribution to the Prophet (peace be upon him) is not sound.
