Is using nicotine gum permissible (halal)?

Nicotine is a toxic organic compound and an addictive substance found in tobacco. Nicotine gum is a medical gum that provides a dose of nicotine to help reduce withdrawal symptoms resulting from quitting smoking, and it is free from other harmful substances. However, it may cause harmful side effects if not used under medical supervision, and it may lead to an alternative nicotine addiction, thereby causing harm to oneself. Furthermore, spending a lot of money on it is considered extravagance or squandering, both of which are forbidden in Islam. Therefore, it is advisable to stay away from it, as there is sufficient provision in what is permissible and good.
