Does a woman choose her husband or is she compelled to marry him? And can she marry someone she loves if there is no betrayal involved?

A woman cannot be forced into marriage, and her permission is required. If she is a virgin, her silence is her permission. If she wishes to marry a man who is religiously suitable (kufu'), and her guardian refuses, the guardianship transfers to the next closest guardian. If all guardians refuse, the judge assumes responsibility for marrying her off. A girl should consult her family and seek guidance from Allah (istikharah) when choosing a husband.
