Is it permissible to marry the daughter of a maternal uncle if the mother breastfed the uncle more than four full feedings before he completed two years of age?
What is prohibited by lineage is also prohibited by suckling. If your maternal uncle suckled from your mother five full sucklings or more, then he becomes in the position of your brother. Consequently, his daughter becomes unlawful for you [to marry] because she is the daughter of your brother through suckling. The proof for this is the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "What is prohibited by suckling is prohibited by lineage," and the saying of Allah the Almighty: "Prohibited to you [for marriage] are your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your paternal aunts, your maternal aunts, the daughters of your brother, and the daughters of your sister..." [An-Nisa: 23]
