Is it permissible to supplicate with "O Allah, we do not ask You to avert the decree, but we ask You for gentleness in it"?

This supplication is forbidden and worse than saying: "O Allah, forgive me if You will," because Allah repels divine decree by supplication. The supplicant must be firm in their request, as if saying: "O Allah, I ask You to grant me well-being." The Permanent Committee for Issuing Fatwas stated that it was not reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and it is better to abandon it. There are other supplications that suffice, such as: "And I ask You, concerning whatever You have decreed for me, to make its outcome righteousness," and seeking refuge from severe affliction, falling into misery, evil decree, and the malicious joy of enemies.
