Are the attributes included in the appellation "Allah" only the essential ones, or both the essential and the active ones, with illustrative examples?
The description of God with all His essential, active, and informational attributes does not detract from His being one, unique God. God is eternal with all His attributes and one and unique with all His attributes. Imam Ahmad clarified this in response to the Zanādiqah and Jahmiyyah, citing the example of a palm tree, which has many parts but one name, and by quoting Allah's saying about Al-Walid ibn Al-Mughirah: {Leave Me and him whom I created alone} [Al-Muddaththir: 11], even though he had many limbs. So, Allah, with all His attributes, is one God who has always been All-Knowing, All-Powerful.
