What is the difference between the names and attributes of Allah?

The Names of Allah indicate His Essence and the perfections inherent in Him, such as Al-Qadeer (the All-Powerful) and Al-Aleem (the All-Knowing), where the Name refers to both the Essence and the attribute. An attribute indicates one specific thing. One must believe in what has been affirmed of Allah's Names and Attributes by Allah or His Messenger, along with the belief that He, glory be to Him, does not resemble His creation in His Essence or His Attributes, as evidenced by the noble verses: (Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One...") and (There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing).
