Is it permissible for a woman to seek her livelihood through adultery if she finds no one to provide for her?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Adultery is forbidden by the consensus of the Ummah, and Allah has forbidden even approaching it and everything that leads to it. He has intensified its punishment in this world and the Hereafter, due to the corruption it causes to religion, morals, and society. Adultery is not permissible simply because a woman cannot find anyone to support her, for Islam has obligated the father and relatives to financially support their poor female relatives, and it has permitted asking for help for the one in dire need. If all avenues are closed to a woman and she is left with no choice but to die of starvation or commit adultery, then in this situation, she is considered coerced, and there is no blame upon her.
