If I strongly desire something, what should I do?

Whoever intends to do something or leave it, and the right course of action is not clear to him, must first seek Allah's guidance (istikhara). This is done by praying two rak'ahs other than the obligatory prayers, then supplicating with the istikhara supplication. After that, he should consult someone he trusts regarding their religiosity, intellect, advice, and experience. Then, he should put his trust in Allah and proceed with whatever becomes easy for him.
