The answer

No hadith with this wording has been reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him). However, in Ibn al-Jawzi’s Sayd al-Khatir, it is mentioned: “It has come in an athar: ‘O Allah! Show us things as they truly are!’” He described it as extremely beautiful speech. A similar supplication was reported from Shaykh Abu Madyan al-Maghribi: “My God, show us things as they truly are, and show us falsehood as falsehood and grant us its avoidance, and show us truth as truth, and grant us its following and commission.” And in Ibn Shahin’s Sharh Madhahib Ahl al-Sunnah, among the supplications of the early generations, it is stated: “O Allah, show us truth as truth and inspire us to follow it, and show us falsehood as falsehood and inspire us to avoid it.”
