Is it permissible to give charity with the intention that the sick neighbor be rewarded for this charity?

The summary of the fatwa is that the gifting of reward for acts of proximity (to Allah) to living individuals is a matter of scholarly disagreement. The Hanbalis permit it, while the majority of scholars forbid it. According to the Hanbali madhhab, it is permissible to gift the reward of charity to a sick neighbor.

As for what is better, it is to advise the patient to increase in acts of obedience, such as charity. And for whoever gives charity with the intention of healing a sick person, their action is good, and it is a means of seeking closeness to Allah through righteous deeds. It has been narrated in the Hadith: "Cure your sick with charity." And charity repels illnesses.
