Is it permissible to give charity with the intention of being cured of diabetes, and is it better for the charity to be a large sum or on a regular basis, based on the hadith: "Cure your sick ones with charity"?
All illnesses have a cure, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah has not sent down a disease but that He has also sent down its cure," and "Some have come to know it, and others have remained ignorant of it." Charity is a spiritual medicine that benefits the sick, no matter what their illness, for "the blessed among the people of Allah have experienced this; they found that spiritual remedies achieve what physical ones cannot." The value of charity depends on the giver's situation; a small amount from the poor might surpass a large amount from the rich in reward. There is no limit to how many times charity can be given for healing, and healing is in the hands of Allah. Goodness may lie in health or in illness.
