Listening to religious lectures and lessons is a commendable act in Islamic law, for which the doer is rewarded, and it is considered seeking knowledge. Parental permission is not required for this, unless it necessitates leaving the house. If parents instruct one to review school lessons at a specific time and forbid engaging in anything else, then obedience to them is obligatory. Whoever disobeys them must repent, feel remorse, and resolve not to return to such disobedience.
