Is it obligatory to wipe the entire head during Wudu, including the two forelocks and the white area above and behind the ear, or is it sufficient to wipe only the apparent part of the hair, especially since the majority of people, including scholars, confine themselves to wiping the apparent part of the hair?

The preponderant view is that it is obligatory to wipe the entire head during ablution (wudu'), including the white area behind the ear. The intention behind this is that it is not permissible to suffice with wiping only part of the head. However, it does not mean that one must meticulously wipe each part of the head with separate strokes. Rather, wiping is achieved with a single stroke. The description of this is to start from the front of the head to the nape, and then return the hands to the front of the head, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did. If something is missed by the hands during the wiping, there is no harm in that, as long as the entire head has been covered by the wiping.
