What is the preponderant opinion regarding wiping the white area between the head and the ear, and is it permissible to limit oneself to wiping most of the head during ablution?

In ablution (wudu'), the entire head must be wiped, and this includes the white area behind or above the ear, which is the space between the hair and the ear. This is according to the sounder opinions among the madhahib (schools of thought). The white area between the head and the ears is considered part of the head. There is no difficulty in wiping this part; it is customary when wiping the head for this white area to be included.
