Is it permissible to suffice with wiping the hair on the sides of the forehead instead of washing it during ablution, and is it permissible to adopt the view of the Shafi'is regarding wiping part of the head when wiping the white area between the head and the ear, as a concession for one afflicted with obsessive-compulsive disorder?

Obsessive doubts (waswasah) are among the most dangerous ailments that a servant must strive to repel. The hair in question appears to be from the head, and the temples and the two receding hairlines are also part of the head. If the hair is level with the top of the ear, it must be wiped along with the head. If it is from the face, it must be washed. Limiting the wiping to only part of the head is the view of the Shafi'is and Hanafis, and a narration from Ahmad that many Hanbalis preferred, especially concerning women. If you wish to act upon this opinion, there is no harm upon you. Moreover, those who hold the view of wiping the entire head excuse a small portion of it, and the white area above the ear is considered part of this small portion.
