Are the white areas above the ears part of the face for the purpose of ablution? What is the ruling on excessive use of water when washing the limbs during ablution, such as the nails, face, and feet? Is it permissible to collect water in one hand and rub the other hand with it to wipe the head? How can one overcome the obsessive doubt of not thoroughly wetting a limb with water?

It is advised not to dwell on obsessive thoughts, and one way to overcome them is to disregard them. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to perform ablution with one "mudd" and ghusl with one "sa'". A "mudd" is the fill of an average man's two cupped hands, and it is a quarter of a "sa'". What is considered for ghusl is the complete flow of water over the entire limb, not the force or quantity of its spray. It is also advised not to be wasteful with water when washing the feet. As for wiping the head, it is sufficient for the hand to be minimally wet with water, and the white part at the top of the ear is considered part of the head.
