What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding a woman who committed adultery and then confessed to her husband, and is the husband permitted to punish her by beating, cursing, or imprisoning her, or should he forgive and be patient?

Adultery is one of the gravest sins, and the sin is magnified if committed by an elderly married woman. However, Allah has not closed the door to repentance. Therefore, she must offer sincere repentance that erases bad deeds and transforms them into good deeds. She should have concealed herself and not informed her husband, because informing about a sin is to publicize it, and Allah does not like the publicizing of evil. As for the husband, we advise him to keep her and forgive her if she repents, and he must prevent her from engaging in acts of corruption. However, if she does not repent and he is unable to prevent her, then he should separate from her.
