Harming Muslims is forbidden in Islamic law, due to the warnings Allah has issued against its perpetrators in the Holy Quran, and because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade it in the Sunnah, describing it as wickedness and disbelief. If the mother-in-law has indeed harmed her son's wife, she must repent to Allah, and she must also not corrupt the relationship between the spouses, as incitement (takhbib) is also a sin.
