What is the ruling on a mother-in-law's dominance over her daughter-in-law, which escalates to malicious scheming and fabricating false accusations and slanders, and what is the position of the son who calls for the punishment of his wife despite knowing her innocence?
Harming Muslims is forbidden in Islamic law, due to the warnings Allah has issued against its perpetrators in the Holy Quran, and because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade it in the , describing it as wickedness and disbelief. If the mother-in-law has indeed harmed her son's wife, she must repent to Allah, and she must also not corrupt the relationship between the spouses, as incitement (takhbib) is also a sin. It is advised to be patient, treat others well, and respond to evil with good. The husband should strive to reconcile between his wife and his mother and not obey his mother in any matter that contradicts Islamic law. If living in a separate house offers a solution to the problem, then striving for that is more appropriate.
