Is seeing a black cat considered bad luck and a form of ill omen (ṭīrah)?

This statement is false and reprehensible, and it is a form of ṭīrah (superstitious omens) which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade and warned against. Ṭīrah is the belief that a need will not be fulfilled, based on pessimism derived from hearing certain words, or seeing certain things or animals, such as an owl or a black cat, or pessimism related to certain days or hours. This belief is false, and a Muslim must cleanse themselves of it and know that Allah alone is the One who brings good deeds and repels evil deeds.
