Is the ruling on the slingshot and playing with it and training with it prohibited in all cases, or is the prohibition specific to breaking a tooth or gouging out an eye? And does shooting with a bow and arrow and bead guns inflict the same harm?

The use of a slingshot falls under the forbidden act of khadhf, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, it neither hunts game nor wounds an enemy, but it may break a tooth or gouge out an eye." Khadhf is the act of throwing pebbles, date pits, or similar objects. Hunting with it is not permissible if the animal dies, because it kills by impact, not by a sharp edge. Sheikh Ibn Baz and Sheikh Al-Uthaymeen have issued fatwas stating that hunting with a slingshot is forbidden if the animal dies before being properly slaughtered (tadhkiyah), because it is killed by impact. Guardians should prevent their children from playing with it. Therefore, the slingshot and pellet gun are akin to the forbidden khadhf, unlike arrows.
