What is the ruling on playing backgammon (nard), cards (kotchina), and dominoes for entertainment solely with family members?

Dice are forbidden due to the hadiths reported concerning them. A Muslim should be keen to play with his children in ways that benefit them and strengthen their bodies and minds, such as games of archery, swimming, horsemanship, and riddles. It is also recommended to encourage them to memorize the Quran and hadith books by organizing competitions for them, while ensuring that these games do not distract them from their obligatory duties.
