Is the method the questioner used to take back his wife—whom he had divorced with a single, revocable pronouncement after two weeks, and then divorced again after childbirth—religiously sound?

Anger does not prevent a divorce from taking effect so long as the one uttering it is aware of what he is saying. If you divorced your wife while being aware, then the divorce has taken effect. You may take your wife back before her 'iddah (waiting period) expires, which is when she gives birth. As long as you informed your wife's father of the re-taking before her 'iddah expired, she has no right to deny the re-taking. If a dispute arises concerning the re-taking, it should be referred to the Sharia court.
