What is the ruling on society's view of children of unknown parentage residing in orphanages and their rights to marriage? Is their caregiver considered a guarantor of an orphan? And what is the ruling on a child born as a result of fornication whose parents then marry?

Children born as a result of adultery or whose lineage is unknown are not considered orphans in the Shar'i (Islamic legal) sense. However, they need care and attention, and showing kindness to them is a great act of devotion, the reward for which may be even greater than sponsoring an orphan. Their psychological well-being must be taken into account, and efforts should be made to integrate them into society and prevent them from feeling inferior. If one of them possesses good character and religious devotion, there is no objection to marrying them. The Muslim community must safeguard virtue and work to protect people from trials and immoralities.
