How can a young man who is not committed to prayer, is addicted to masturbation and listening to some songs, and desires to repent and return to Allah, remain steadfast in his repentance and rid himself of these sins, especially since he feels lost and confused?

Prayer is of great importance and has a high status in the religion. Many verses and hadiths have been revealed encouraging it and warning against abandoning it. Whoever abandons it completely has committed an act of disbelief, and whoever is negligent in performing it and delays it beyond its time has been warned by Allah of woe. The one who abandons prayer will be deprived of a distinguishing mark of the Ummah of Muhammad on the Day of Resurrection, which is the white blaze on the forehead and the white marks on the limbs from the effects of ablution.

As for songs accompanied by music and musical instruments, they are forbidden, and there are previous fatwas clarifying this. Likewise, masturbation is forbidden, and there are fatwas clarifying this. One can refer to fatwas on overcoming the devil and desires.
