What is the ruling on selling ice cream that contains artificial colorings and flavorings?

It is permissible to use artificial colors and flavors in ice cream and sweets if they are not harmful and are extracted from a pure and permissible source. However, if they are extracted from something impure (such as pork or an animal not slaughtered according to Islamic law), their use is not permissible, unless they have been chemically processed in such a way that their impurity is transformed into another, non-impure substance.
