Is the Hadith that mentions the arrival of people from Persia, with shaven beards and long mustaches, and the Prophet (PBUH) asking them: "Who commanded you to do this?" to which they replied: "Our Lord commanded us," and he responded: "But my Lord commanded me to trim my mustache and lengthen my beard," authentic?

Multiple narrations, both mursal and with sound chains of transmission, as well as those with weak chains, affirm that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) commanded the growing of the beard and the trimming of the mustache, as a defiance of the Zoroastrians who used to shave their beards and let their mustaches grow long. Some scholars have deemed this hadith good (hasan) and considered shaving the beard to be forbidden (haram), while deeming it obligatory to grow and lengthen it.
