Is it permissible to perform surgery to correct protruding ears for a child to avoid mockery and its psychological impact on him?

Cosmetic surgeries that are forbidden are those performed for the sake of seeking beauty and increasing attractiveness. However, those performed to remove a defect or treat a deformity are permissible. The resolution of the Islamic Fiqh Academy stipulates the permissibility of necessary and needful cosmetic surgery intended to restore the shape of body parts to their original human creation and to correct congenital defects. Therefore, there is no objection to performing surgery to correct protruding ears in a child to restore them to their normal shape.
