Is a mother considered sinful if she refuses to go and see the girl her son wishes to marry, especially after he has mistreated her and her family? And should she forgive him if he comes to apologize, despite the pain he caused her?

If the son uttered these words while conscious, he has committed a grave transgression and a great act of disobedience (uquq) that warrants reminding him of Allah and His severe punishment. The mother is not obligated by Islamic law to forgive him, but it is preferable for her to forgive him, even if he does not ask for forgiveness, out of her compassion for him. The mother does not sin if she does not go to see the girl he wishes to marry, but she should not refuse to do so. If the girl is of good character and religious, there should be no objection to his marriage to her, even if there is an age difference, as this is not a religious impediment.
