Who is Al-Aswad al-Ansi? Was he a Muslim and in what period did he live?

Al-Aswad al-Ansi was a man from Madhhij. He embraced Islam, then apostatized at the end of the Prophet's life (peace be upon him) and claimed prophethood. His name was Abhalah ibn Ka'b, and he was also called Dhul-Khimaar (the Man of the Veil). He was a soothsayer and a charlatan who showed people wonders and captivated their hearts with his speech. His rebellion began after the Prophet's Farewell Pilgrimage, and it lasted for four months until he was killed.
