What are the recommended acts of worship in Ramadan from the Quran and Sunnah?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A fasting person should increase in acts of obedience and avoid what is not beneficial, uphold obligatory duties and abandon prohibitions, such as performing the five daily prayers in congregation, and refraining from lying, cheating, and every forbidden word or action. This is in accordance with the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever does not abandon false speech, acting upon it, and ignorance, Allah has no need for him to abandon his food and drink."

It is also recommended to increase in reciting the Quran, praying, remembering Allah (dhikr), performing night prayers (Qiyam al-Layl), and spending in charity, following the example of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who was most generous in Ramadan.
