What is the ruling on a wife holding her husband when going out, i.e., in the street?

There is no religious impediment preventing a woman from holding her husband's hand in public. However, customs and traditions must be observed. If the action is considered inappropriate in a particular environment, it should be avoided to prevent gossip and protect one's honor. If the environment permits it, the action should be within the bounds of what is customary, without exceeding into coquetry or fondling, and general decorum should be observed.
